Finnish goth ‘n’ roll superstars THE 69 EYES have released the exclusive iTunes single ‘Rosary Blue’ featuring L.A. Ink/ex-Miami Ink tattoo artist Kat von D!
‘Rosary Blue’ was recording during the studio sessions for the band’s most recent album, »X«, and can be purchased via http://bit.ly/69katd
More about this recording session can be seen on the documentary DVD which comes along with the digipak version of »X«.
Check out the documentary trailer on ’Rosary Blue’ at http://youtu.be/ch7Y3CPS2iM
Commented lead singer Jyrki69: „Kat Von D is a bona fide renaissance woman. I wasn’t surprised when she mentioned me some time ago that she’s going to spread her wings over music. Strangely enough we happened to have a suitable song for a female duet ready at the same time, so it was completely natural to ask her to join in. Kat boldly flew over to Stockholm to Anders Bagge’s studios to lay down her sweet vocals last spring and the result is pure magic!“

Helsinki vampires The 69 Eyes, whose most recent album “X” was released on the 28th of September 2012, will release the digital “Love Runs Away” EP – including two previously unreleased bonus songs – via iTunes on February 1, 2013!
The tracklist looks as follows:
1. Love Runs Away
2. Rosary Blue (feat. Kat Von D) (edit)
3. Dracula’s Castle
`Love Runs Away´ – the third single and opening track of “X” that has by now already become a live-favourite – carries pure rocking metal riffs and a chorus with a bulletproof hook line. Singer Jyrki69 comments: “This is the most obvious single track from the album and already works great on stage, so it’s about time to release it as a proper single!”
The larger-than-life ballad duet `Rosary Blue´ on which Jyrki is accompanied by world-famous tattoo artist and “L.A. Ink” star Kat Von D is the first of two never before heard bonus tracks. “We’ve known each other for some years and since Kat is also starting to make music, I thought it would be interesting to have her on board. The song is amazing and with her help, it turned out even more magical – it’s like our own `Stairway to Heaven´”, states the front man.
The final track `Dracula’s Castle´ is at least equally interesting, as it can be considered pure rockabilly – or rather gothabilly! Jyrki shares its background: “The Fuzztones is one of my all-time favourite bands and I’ve got to know their leader Rudi Protrudi a bit. We wrote this track with him in Berlin one night before our show and he actually even sings backing vocals on it. Words can’t describe the feeling of making music with your own idol – I still can’t believe it! The song is like a Scooby Doo-on-acid-by-Helloween kind of gothabilly track. Should be a radio hit too by any standards!”

Los-Angeles-based photographer Oriol was responsible for the cover of The 69 Eyes’ previous album “Back In Blood”. Moreover, he’s famous for his work with Eminem, Cypress Hill, Snoop Dgg and Jay-Z, among others.

United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador Jyrki Linnankivi will be visiting Nicaragua on January 14-18, 2013. Known as Jyrki 69, Mr. Linnankivi is the vocalist of Finnish rock band The 69 Eyes.
Jyrki Linnankivi will be accompanied by members of the Finnish Committee for UNICEF with the aim of learning about UNICEF’s work supporting the Government of Nicaragua in preventing commercial sexual exploitation and human trafficking. This will take him to the cities of Managua, Granada, Bluefields and Pearl Lagoon.
This will be the first time that Nicaragua has been visited by a Goodwill Ambassador. According to the UNICEF Representative in Nicaragua, Philippe Barragne-Bigot, “Goodwill Ambassadors give a voice to those who don’t have one. The objective of Jyrki’s visit is for him to return and transmit a message to the people of Finland and the Nordic countries of Europe on the advances in compliance with child and adolescent rights, the challenges still pending, and the possibility of collaborating to reduce the existing gaps.”
As part of the visit, the Goodwill Ambassador will hold a meeting with adolescents and young people who have been victims of trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. It is also planned to hold informative sessions with the National Coalition for the Fight against Human Trafficking, local and regional authorities, and nongovernmental organizations.
In 2013, UNICEF Nicaragua is initiating a new Cooperation Programme that will last until 2017, including actions linked to the prevention of violence and the protection of children and adolescents. Employing an equity-based approach, UNICEF has identified 24 municipalities with higher rates of poverty and inequality located in the country’s northern regions and North and South Atlantic Autonomous Regions.

Helsinki vampires THE 69 EYES recently shot a video for the hit single “Borderline” together with famous producer Patric Ullaeus over in New Orleans. The song comes off the band’s most recent album, “X”.
Frontman Jyrki commented: “My favorite music videos are basically all Elvis movies. What else you need: good music, beautiful girls and exciting location. When it comes to darkness, I think Danzig has got it in the way I love it — always seductive vixens involved.”
Check out the video here
The video is directed, as the one for the song „Red“, by Patric Ullaeus and you can watch it on Jyrki69′s blog: http://7redblog.com/fi/the-new-video-borderline-by-the-69-eyes/
Helsinki vampires The 69 Eyes recently shot a video for the hit single “Borderline” together with famous producer Patric Ullaeus over in New Orleans. The song comes off the band’s most recent album, “X”. The clip will be due next week – keep your eyes open!
“It’s like our “Love Me Tender” – a soft, timeless ballad. But it also has that dark, mystic Southern vibe (some said “True Blood”), so naturally we had to go to Louisiana to shoot the video! Mark Twain’s books, Elvis’ “King Creole”, “Easy Rider”, blues, jazz, voodoo, vampires – so many reasons for The 69 Eyes go to N’awlins. We’ve played there twice, I’ve hosted two DJ club nights there called ”Fangtasia” over the last two summers. The leading rock/metal video director of these latter days, Swedish Patric Ullaeus was also interested in coming to NOLA to make this masterpiece, so all was set for it! The mid-October was perfect for a long-lost weekend in the South, ” tells the singer Jyrki69.
The video starts with a scene in which the local vampire tour legend Lord Chaz draws five Xs on the crypt door of the Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau’s resting place in Saint Louis Cemetery # 1. “Easy Rider’s” famous psychedelic scene was also filmed there.
