Soen was founded in 2004 by Opeth’s drummer Martin Lopez and Kim Platbarzdis, guitarist of Swedish Willowtree. Lopez played with Opeth from 1998- 2004. There were many reasons why the band was put on hold until 2010, when they confirmed the final line-up, which included singer of Willowtree, Joel Ekelöf and one of the best metal bassists, Steve DiGiorgio (Death, Testament, Iced Earth, Obitary). Same year they presented their first song, “Fraccions” and in 2011 band was working on a new album, which was entitled „Cognitive“ and released this February via Spinefarm Records.
Press reviews were good and the band was compared to Tool and Opeth.
