Eluveitie’s Anna Murphy (hurdy gurdy, vocals, flute) will be forced to miss the band’s upcoming European tour with Sabaton due to continuing health issues.

In a new message posted on her Facebook page, Anna says: “You may have read the news on Eluveitie‘s sites already, but I want to give you an update myself as well. It’s been awfully quiet on this page.
I got sick last December, and, sadly, had to leave ELUVEITIE’s South American tour last month. Now I am still in treatment, and the doctors won’t let me play any shows for the next few weeks. This means that I’m going to miss the upcoming tour with SABATON, which sucks! I can’t tell you how disappointed and frustrated I am at missing these shows and not seeing you all on the road in March. I’ll be back as soon as possible!
As for my solo album, while we’ve had to move the recording dates back a little, we’re still making good progress. Pretty much all the songs have been ready for a while, release plans are coming together, and as soon as I’m back on my feet we’ll put together the musicians for the studio. Release is scheduled for later this year, and I hope you are as excited about this one as I am!”

Eluveitie has released album ”Helvetios” in Europe on February 10, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records.

Eluveitie will on tour with Sabaton come to Zagreb, Tvornica kulture on March 13, 2013. Tickets are available on www.eventim.hr.

Yesterday WINTERSUN’s North American tour with Eluveitie & Varg kicked off in Tempe / Arizona. It was a great, nearly sold out show that thrilled both the band and the audience. The tour through the USA and Canada will continue until December 21, with the show in Ottawa, Canada already being sold out and more gigs close to be sold out!

The band comments:

Chrigel Glanzmann, frontman, bandleader, songwriter and lyricist for Swiss new wave of folk metal superstars, Eluveitie, has confirmed his participation on an open forum about the gaulish war at Zurich University.

The event will take place on November 22, 2012 and will be hosted by PD Dr. Eckhard Deschler-Erb. Besides Chrigel lecturing, Eluveities latest effort, „Helvetios“, will also be featured throughout the evening.

„We are super happy about this special request from the Zurich University. I feel deeply honoured to take part in Dr. Deschler-Erbs lecture series. This will for sure be an exciting and educational event!“ says Chrigel.

Two years after last show in Croatia, power metal band Sabaton is back in Zagreb, club Tvornica, on 13th March 2013 as a part of tour to promote „Far from the fame“ recorded on Masters of Rock 2012. Their companions on tour will be folk metalers Eluveitie and Hungarian power metal forces Wisdom.

Swiss New Wave of Folk Metal pioneers Eluveitie have issued the following statement regarding the departure of their long-time guitarist Simeon “Sime” Koch:

“We regret to inform you that Sime is leaving Eluveitie. Sime was thinking about this since quite a long time already and finally decided to take this step. He will set about some new goals in his life – both, vocational and familial – which will make it impossible for him to play in a touring band.

Sime was part of Eluveitie for 8 years now, part of our little, crazy family – and we will dearly miss him. But at the same time we’re thankful for the awesome time we spent together. We wish him and his family all the best for his personal and vocational future!”

Sime states: “A couple of months ago I informed my band mates, that I’ll leave Eluveitie in September 2012 for familial reasons. It was a very tough call, it was difficult to make this decision – in a way the band is part of the family too, after all.

I will dearly miss Eluveitie. But fortunately the world (or rather Switzerland) is small: I will still play the upcoming shows in Solothurn’s Kofmehl and the Eluveitie & Friends festival with full commitment!

I wish the band all the best and accident-free upcoming tours!”

Those of you who’d like to see Sime on stage with Eluveitie one last time, will get two chances, namely on the 20^th of September at the show in Solothurn, Switzerland, and on the 29^th of December in Winterthur, Switzerland, at the “Eluveitie & friends festival”, where he will appear as a special guest.

At the same time the band announces Sime’s successor:

“His name is Rafael Salzmann and he will play the upcoming tours with us as a live session guitarist. Rafael is a gifted musician and very skilled guitar player and he also already has been working together with Anna in the Soundfarm Studios. Now we’re looking forward a lot to rock the stages together with him!”

On a related note, Patrick “Päde” Kistler has to take a short break due to personal reasons and will rejoin Eluveitie’s upcoming “Swedish Empire Tour” as support of SABATON in the beginning of October.
