Interesting piece of news coming from the Bon Jovi camp – keyboard player David Bryan donated a large Steinway concert grand piano to the U.S. State Department Collection, which will find its place in the Benjamin Franklin Ballroom at the building of this institution in the U.S. capital, Washington D.C.

Bryan stated: “In times of joy and sorrow, love or hate, peace and unrest, music has always been an important outlet for expressing our emotions individually and as a nation. As a proud American musician, it is my great honor to give this gift to the State Department. I hope it brings years of wonderful music to these great halls.”

A plaque that accompanies the piano states, “In the timeless celebration of music is that which brings us together, not separates us.”

Bryan was present at the reception honoring the presentation, together with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. The reception also included a performance by the Broadway cast of ‘Memphis.’ The musical recently won four Tony awards, including Best Original Score, for which Bryan and Joe DiPietro were responsible, while Bryan also received other awards in the same field for his work.
