Atmospheric rock band Anathema from Liverpool comes to Zagreb’s Boogaloo Club on Thursday, October 11th, as part of the European tour, on which they promote their new, praised album „Weather Systems“.

Anathema, founded by the three Cavanagh brothers, is one of the most significant British rock bands in the last two decades and comes from the city of the greatest rockers of all time, The Beatles, which is slowly but surely becoming the city of Anathema, too.

In its 22 years of existence, Anathema is making a constant progress, evolving in the process of creativity, so in their music, the word „progress“ has its full sense. From the pioneer doom/death metal beginnings at the start of the 90′s with albums „Serenades“ (1993) and „The Silent Enigma“ (1995) after which they turn, first to gothic rock with the album „Eternity“ (1996), entering more and more atmospheric and psychodelic waters of progressive rock with albums „Alternative 4“ (1998) and „Judgement“ (1999).

Album „A Fine Day to Exit“ (2001) sees the coming of the singer Lee Douglas, who carries Anathema further along the path from the alternative, art, post, psychedelic, all the way to neoclassical and progressive rock with her soft, expressively emotional vocals, always with a lot of ambiental music with deep themes in their lyrics, which give depth in combination with music that many compared to the great name of psychedelic rock Pink Floyd.

The next album „We’re Here Because We’re Here“ (2010) was pronounced a new masterpiece, a textbook album for modern progressive and atmospheric rock.

The new album „Weather Systems“ (2012)  continues with rave reviews from journalists, so it got a maximum of five stars in the respected music magazine Terrorizer, whose journalist described it with the following words: „It is truly magnificent, ethereal – is it another masterpiece? Of course it is!“, while band members themselves say it is their best album so far.
