Blaze Bayley’ arrival in Zagreb, after canceling concert on the last tour, was for sure an event we will remember. Now he arrived as part of his world tour „The King Of Metal Tour“ on which he promotes his new, the same titled album that has been released few days ago.
To support Blaze Bayley had the honor bands Eat Your Brains and Vis Maior but due to some unexpected circumstances I cannot tell about their show as I managed to step into the club right when Blaze appeared on the stage.
Right on the beginning, and he has opened the show with „Will to Win“ and continued with Maiden’s „Lord of the Flies“, Blaze has shown he is bigger than life, indestructible as that much honest energy Boogaloo hasn’t seen for a while. So it wasn’t surprise the gathered audience was enthusiastic and very soon responded to infective passion from the stage in songs „Dimebag“, new „The King of Metal“, „Fate“, „The black Country“…. And exactly when we thought it cannot be better, despite of traditionally bad sound in the club and also traditionally great atmoshpere Blaze took us on the path of Iron Maiden with „The Clansman“ and „Man on the Edge“ and then disappeared from the stage when audience was calling for more. To all potential sceptics who lives of comparisions should be told that Blaze’s singing style is completely different from Bruce Dickinson’s style. That’s the only fair as they both in their own way marked Iron Maiden.
So it wasn’t a surprise that Blaze return on the stage and in the end played another Maiden song, „Futureal“ and left the local audience impressed not only with his show, top show in which is hard to find weak link as all musicians played their parts in very impressive level but also impressed by his music mission truly devoted to metal. I believe, beside Blaze, there are only few individuals who are truly and with all their herts devoted to music they play, their stage appearance and performance without counting visitors in the club and salary from ticket sale. That heart, tht feeling and that honesty and devotion the audience truly felt. So I hope this wasn’t Blaze’s last visit to Croatia!
