God bless Psihomodo!

In 1983. in Zagreb there was a band which has totally conquered this area with a speed of lightning with their great and heavy music. Band was called Psihomodo Pop and head of the band became Davor Gobac, men who is day today responsible for their unique style and rock’n'roll in Croatia.

27 years later, as critics love to call them, Croatian Ramones have crossed in cult Zagreb’s Mochvara for the first time and made cold December night warm.

But before legends of Croatian rock arrived to stage, honour to play before them had Brujači, punk band who has prepared the audience for Davor Gobac’s party and his musicians which have arrived on well decorated stage with disco balls and light blubs that hanged from the ceiling.

As it usually comes to a rock’n'roll in a rock club, Davor Gobac at the beginning mentioned current situation between rock and turbo folk, and their rebellion was greeted in overcrowded Mochvara. And then they started to play just like it should be when it comes to Psihomodo Pop. Rebelish and heavy. Temperature in the club was growing, clothes on Davor Gobac’s body was less and less. In very relaxed atmosphere which Gobac managed to move to boiling poing with his interaction with the audience which greeted the hits like – ‘Volim crtane filmove’, ‘Frida’, ‘Ramona’, ‘Ja volim samo sebe’, ‘Starfucker’, ‘Duga devetka’, ‘Osjećam se haj’, ‘ Bože čuvaj Psihomodo Pop’, ‘Nema nje (zauvijek)’ and the whole Mochvara was dancing. After hour and half of play the audience started to drink heavily because of the warm temperature in the club, Gobac said goodbye to the audience and left the stage with his band. But audience didn’t give up and shouted „We want more! We want more!“ and that got them back to the stage. Club was dancing again, Gobac sang „Pinokio, ne skidaj gaćice…“ and there were also some birthday wishes and dance on the stage. Gobac has really managed to keep the atmosphere with his scene movements and taking till the cult song „Leteći odred“ from their album „Godina zmaja“ which was marked as an end of concert. But the audience, wanting the good rock’n'roll doesn’t give up and with clapping and shouting gets the band back on stage. Gobac now takes the guitar in hands, time for a short Doors trubute and „Mila“, song that was just for the woman in the audience. After more than two hours of play, clearly satisfied band said once again goodbye to even more satisfied Zagreb’s audience.

After this concert in Močvara it was clear how Psihomodo Pop was and stayed the band who puts the audience in trance and is one of those that has no problem to be just like their fans. So there is nothing else to believe that there will be no more 27 years after Psihomodo Pop plays in Močvara. Till then – God bless Psihomodo!
