ROUND TABLE ON SUBJECT “ROCK & POLITICS”

Few hours before their performance in front of Zagreb audience, pioneers of German electronic wave, industrial and post-punk music, DAF, with full name Deutsch-Americhanische Freundschaft have taken part in round table at Mochvara’s terrance themed „Rock and politics“.

History of pop culutre here has inspired that first D.A.F. concert takes place in Jabuka, place where in early 80′s songs of this bend were played from gramophones till madness.

Two membered band consists of Gabriel Belgad and Robert Gorl who are founders of electro scene in many ways and they are band who opened doors to British new wave and bands like Human League, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Soft Cell or Pet Shop Boys who are important part of every radio station even today.

That is why DAF’s visit as part of Zagrebi! Festival, just like round table with bandmembers that was there for everybody who was iterested, important component for town who was raising alternative scene in Jabuka during 80′s, and today, well, in many times controverse Mochvara.

This band from Dusseldoft for unfairly forgotten during last decade, just like cult british Cabaret Voltare, despite main role they played on minimalistic electro-scene. But that wasn’t the reason to go to city’s garden of alternative culture (also unfairly forgotten during last decade) at cold Zagreb’s afternoon and follow the words which have launched provocative slogans like “tanz der Mussolini, tanz der Adolf Hitler, tanz der Jesus Christos, tanz der Kommunismus” and homoerotic image with which later season will be fired up by Frenkie Goes To Hollywood. Because of all said we were surprised by pretty small interest for hanging out with such an interesting personalities and same interesting topic about which soon you will have a chance to read more in our portal.

For last night’s guesting of cult Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundshaft in Zagreb’s Mochvara club we have to thank to effort of Zagrebi! festival organizators whi have with this fenomenal concert also finished their third fetstival. Avangarde inside of Mochvara, a HOT After summer beach party of Queer Zagreb right next to it…are the strings of traditionally orthodox Croatia slowly started to break?

Deutsch-Amerikanische Freundshaft or shortly D.A.F. have gained a name a pioneers of EBM with reason, Neue Deutsche (Punk) Welle and Tech, whose name is signed by inovative musical duo Gabriel „Gabi“ Delgado-Lopez (vocals) and Robert Gorl (drums, percussions, electronic instruments). The difference between those two characters have cause their separation and re foundation for many times although they have never said official reason of break of their perfectly creative symbiosis. DAF are having the rhytmic but intelligent musica genre throught which they give their subverize alterntive ethos clearly, and because of their provocative texts they were called many times. Just like their sarchastic hit „Der Mussolini“ from the album „Alles ist gut“.

Many loyal fans have been waiting in front of Močvara, most of them from 80′s and early 90′s and for warm up there was DJ Ivan Krželj with this programe musikfantastique. 15 minutes before 11pm Zagrebi! proudly announces the fathers of EMB who have been traveling to us for „only“ 31 years, but its never too late isn’t it? The enterance of frontman Gabi have raised the temperature with „Verschewende Deine Jugend“ and gained ovations from the audience. And the audience….there is a saying „between a dog and wolf“, during night, when dog is been unleashed, and wolf is in the darkness coming to his prey…just for the picture. Controverse par exellence „Der Mussolini“ has only supported already buring podium. That song is eternal because the principe is immortal – nobody wants to be stopped! „Kebab-Traume“, „Sato-Sato“, „Muskel“, „Der Sheriff“ and many more followed, after which has Gabi cooling himself with water, making an impact on his sexappeal, so in one moment he would even sprinkle us with water…maybe uvertire for „Sex unter Wasser“? D.A.F. was out for three more times on encore, and dancing mood haven’t fallen down till the end of show.

Gabi’s aggressive vocal supported by Robert’s monotone drum beat and electro parts, same time filled with provocativity and heavyness, sensuality and lust, that is the mix which is their highest card. However we have enjoyed heir „music for the brain and for the ass“. Danke schon D.A.F.!
