Defiant is melodic death metal band from Požega (Croatia) matched by Bole, Kirs, Beretz and File. Last year they released their debut album “The Eind of Beginning”.
Recently they supported Finnish band Korpiklaani in Boogaloo in Zagreb.
For this occasion we spoke with vocalist and guitarist Beretz.

VENIA: How did you formed the band, where is the idea for the band name came from?
BERETZ: The band is formed accidentally… through some story how both of us like melodical death metal and accidentally by meeting Kiki and me in some bar. the band name came from Kiki because we all like Star Track.;)

VENIA: What about inspiration for composing and lyrics?
BERETZ: Inspiration for music just appear. simply, you take a guitar and play. or you write a text when something you like is on your mind.

VENIA: In 2006 you recorded your debut album “The End of Beginning”, what can you tell about it?
BERETZ:Yes, we did. I think we gained incredible success with it, because in Croatia you cannot find another band like we are.. we don’t copy anyone, we just like to play our music and that’s it.
There are 8 songs on the album. that consist incredible energy, dark texts, fast and slow melodies that cannot be boring to someone.

VENIA: You’ve filmed video for the song “Bloody Roses”, where is the idea came from?
BERETZ: That song was a special for us. it was somehow different from other songs and we liked it the most, so we sat down one evening and said: “let’s film the video” and we did it.

VENIA: You had may shows, which one took the best place in your memory?
BERETZ: At the moment the best one is this one here where we were supporting Korpiklaani. something really incredible. we couldn’t believe we play in Croatia.

VENIA: I’m sure there are some interesting things related with your shows, would you share some with us?
BERETZ: There were great shows like the one with Vader, Martinska festa in Šibenik, show with Catamenia, PZ forces gigs. anyway, there are many shows and each one is a good and nice memory. and now something special related to them is standard. hehehhee. drinks, food, women, hehehehhehe

VENIA: Recently you played as support to Finnish band Korpiklaani, what are your impressions regarding it?
BERETZ:As I said before. simply unforgettable show, this one is Zagreb the same as the one in Hungary before.

VENIA: Soon you’ll start with recording of new album “Reality”, what can you tell about it?
BERETZ:So, the album will be called “WITHOUT HOPE THERE’S NO FEAR” and I really don’t know what to tell because it’s still not time to talk about it. you’ll hear it..

VENIA: Would you mind to tell what are you doing when you don’t play?
BERETZ: No, find out yourself. hehehhee

VENIA: Your plans for future?
BERETZ: Try to get into some good label and leave the things on their flow. although we are satisfied also this way.
