APOCALYPTICA ANNOUNCE TOUR WITH CLASSICAL ORCHESTRA

For the first time in their career, Apocalyptica are going on tour with a classical orchestra. The collaboration with the prestigious Finnish Avanti! Orchestra will feature instrumentally performed Apocalyptica songs, especially arranged for the band and the 25-piece orchestra. The long-cherished project will be premiering live in Finland in March 2014. Following the shows in Finland, the tour will proceed to Russia, Germany, Poland, Belarus and the Baltic states. Pre-sales for these unique live events will commence from May 23rd – for now, tickets will be available via Apocalyptica.com exclusively.

METALLICA PINBALL MACHINE REVEALED IN NEW VIDEO

One of the fabled Metallica pinball machines has finally been revealed in full. In a new video posted by Stern Pinball, the entire machine is explained and showcased, with a ton of Metallica tracks and references ripe for the paddling.

Metallica revealed last month that custom pinball machines were in the works. The musicians of Metallica, especially guitarist Kirk Hammett, are avid pinball fans, so if KISS can have a pinball machine, why not Metallica?

Game designer John Borg takes us through one of the three Metallica pinball machines, which integrates albums such as ‘Master of Puppets’ and ‘Death Magnetic’ into the machine’s gameplay. ‘Creeping Death,’ ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls,’ ‘Fuel,’ ‘Master of Puppets,’ ‘The Unforgiven,’ ‘Seek and Destroy,’ ‘Battery,’ ‘Sad But True,’ ‘Enter Sandman,’ ‘One,’ ‘Fade to Black’ and ‘The End of the Line’ are all included to complete the machine’s soundtrack.

SLAYER ANNOUNCE LOS ANGELES MEMORIAL CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF GUITARIST JEFF HANNEMAN

The music world has been rocked by the death of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman and there will now be a place for his family, peers and fans to come together to mourn his loss and celebrate his life. The Jeff Hanneman Memorial Celebration is scheduled for May 23 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.

Hanneman passed away May 2 at the age of 49 from alcohol-related cirrhosis of the liver.

The Memorial Celebration will be free and open to the public on a first-in basis (based on venue capacity). All ages are welcome and paid parking will be available around the venue. The event is scheduled to run from 3:30-7:30PM.

The guitarist left quite an imprint on the metal world as his furious riffs and punk-rock attitude helped mold the Slayer sound, which included such staples as ‘Angel of Death,’ ‘Raining Blood,’ ‘South of Heaven’ and ‘War Ensemble.’

Hanneman co-founded the band with guitarist Kerry King, bassist/vocalist Tom Araya and drummer Dave Lombardo in 1981.

APOCALYPTICA RELEASE ‘PSALM’ VIDEO

The band commented: “As most of you know, Perttu has been playing a beautiful new song during the last tour – it’s called “Psalm” and the band has now decided to release it. On top, Paavo has produced the atmospherically dense clip: filmed back at the Sibelius Academy, where the band once recorded their first album, Paavo took care of everything from direction to post production.”

Berlin-based choreographer Gregor Seyffert has initiated an extraordinary crossover event in celebration of the 200th birthday of the famous German composer RICHARD WAGNER. The project, featuring APOCALYPTICA, the symphony orchestra of German broadcasting network MDR with its chief conductor Kristjan Järvi, the theater ensemble Titanick, and the Jugend Berlin Ballet, highlights Richard Wagner’s life in 100 minutes.

It will offer historical scenes, as well as Wagner’s timeless compositions and some of the great music it has inspired. The world premiere of this rich blend of dance performances, circus and theater arts, audiovisual experiences, and a unique live concert will take place at the Arena Leipzig in July 2013.
